Strengthen the discipline in poker is a bit hard for some people. Getting excited while catching a huge Pocket Pair in Texas Holdem, can be the doom of the whole hand.
Letting out your excitement shows the other players at the table you are holding something good and it's probably the cause that everyone in the table fold, leaving you with the monster in the hand and just the will to win. Besides the need of a poker face, there are a few things to consider when strengthening our discipline.
First consider the cards we are going to play. Recommended starting hands are the priority. Do not lose the focus, sometimes when people get Ace + crappy card; then goes crazy and usually hold it just because the Ace is in the hand Certainly it's a good card and a huge kicker. Stick to the starting hands; be sure to play with AK, AQ, AJ, and suited connectors, or high and medium pairs.
People tend to call risky starting hands like AT or lower pairs, when getting one of these in early position, is better to fold it; its probable that there are too many hands ahead that can beat it easily.
Second, have in mind every hand can be beaten unless you hit a Royal in the flop. So if you notice the probability is against your hand and is going to be overwhelmed then don't hesitate to fold it. I know is hard; especially when the hand is a monster, but always remember; when bigger more harder will be the fall.
It could be worst when you try to stay in the hand to see what could happen in the river. If you folded already, then forget about that hand, and start thinking a new strategy for the next one. And over all the things, DON'T tell anyone on the table which cards you were holding.
Third, do not lose control. Sometimes, our hands are beaten and when this happen too often, we go On Tilt. Being in that state could be very dangerous for your stack because you get desperate to recover your money the fastest way possible and then begin to make stupid calls with whatever trash cards that fell in your hands; your opponents will know you are On Tilt; giving them a huge advantage, so you are going to lose more than you can recover. If you feel you are getting out of control, leave the game for a while, is better to retreat and fight another day.
Poker discipline is not easy to achieve, but when you get the skill, you are one step closer to become a Pro. Making the right decisions and sticking to them is the key to reach the goal of this game⦠lots of money.
History of Pai Gow Poker lies in the fascinating ancient Chinese game of Pai Gow. The original game of Pai Gow was played by the Chinese with tiles that were similar to dominoes. These tiles, or dominoes, were separated into groups by the Pai Gow dealer and then a roll of the dice determined which set of tiles belonged to which player. In the 1800's different versions of the Pai Gow game existed in China. As other games, Pai Gow is believed to have been brought into the United States in the 1800's, by Chinese immigrants who arrived to work in mines and on the railways. In Califonia, this chinese game changed its name from Pai Gow to Pai Gow Poker to get around gambling laws.
